After poutine, Canadian butter tarts are Canada's second greatest culinary invention. This is an apple-infused twist on a traditional Canadian butter tart. These have a wonderful texture and flavor and are a perfect small dessert.

Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
 
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
 
- 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter (cubed)
 
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
 
- 2-3 tablespoons of ice water
 
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
 
- 1/4 cup of corn syrup
 
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter (melted)
 
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
 
- 2 large eggs
 
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
 
- 1 cup of diced apples (peeled)
 
- 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
 
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
 
- Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough holds together. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
 
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to fit your baking dish. Cut out circles to fit the tart molds and press them in.
 
- In another bowl, whisk together brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla, eggs, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
 
- Stir in diced apples and chopped walnuts into the mixture.
 
- Pour the filling into the prepared tart shells, filling each about 3/4 full.
 
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
 
- Let cool before serving.
