Classic Belgian Waffles

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups of whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined – be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.
  • Preheat the waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle maker and close the lid.
  • Cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, usually about 4-5 minutes depending on your waffle maker.
  • Carefully remove the waffles and keep them warm while you repeat the process with the remaining batter.
